Material Culture from Prehistoric Virginia by Wm Jack Hranicky This publication represents the author’s study over the last 40 years of prehistoric artifacts and cultural remains found in Virginia and neighboring areas. However, most prehistoric artifacts were pan-Indian - thus - they were found throughout the U.S. Naturally, there were local variation, but the axe was an axe - and throughout the world. The book contains over 7000 previously unpublished artifacts and describes their cultural contexts and relative time periods, including over 1000 fluted points. Along with its extensive bibliography, this book makes a valuable – where-to look – starting source for Virginia prehistory. From Before Clovis to Spanish/English contacts, Virginia Native American history is presented. (Estimated 700 pages.) To be published December 1st, 2007.
