Survey History
Survey Model

The McCary Fluted Point Survey of Virginia was started by Ben C. McCary. In 1941, he called Indain artifact collectors to Richmond Virginia to discuss their finds and collections. The idea behind this show-and-tell meeting became the Survey. These points and subsequently-reported points were published in 1947 by the ASV. Starting with hand rubbling of paleopoints to digital imaging, the Survey now has a database of 1000+ points.
